Not on the menu

A serious note: only six states; California, Georgia, Hawaii, Michigan, New York and Virginia have laws against butchering and eating cats and dogs.

While you may not be able to contact your Congressional representatives until they return from their Fourth of July scheduled break, please consider emailing, writing or calling them once they’re back at work.

Representatives Alcee Hastings (D) and Vern Buchanan (R), both from Florida, first introduced the legislation in March. The Dog and Cat Meat Trade Prohibition Act will ban selling cat or dog meat in the other 44 states currently permitting it. Their bill already has 100 co-sponsors.
