January 26 was the day Spot came running at least a quarter mile to get human help for brother Slim, who’d been shot, yet crawled back and collapsed in their greenhouse home at the farm.
We figured we’d provide the two former farm cats’ forever home now, so we wanted to have Spot neutered, as brother Slim had been. (So is all the rest of our ‘zoo.’)
This afternoon, the vets’ office called to say Spot had surgery and was doing well … but they’d made a surprise discovery.
We left Spot to be neutered.
Spot had to be spayed.
Yep, you read that right – Spot’s a girl! But Spot’s still a hero – er, heroine, and we’ll go get her tomorrow.
You can’t fool Mother Nature.
