News to use

We have an old-fashioned paper cutter that’s used daily. It shreds junk mail, old files, scrap paper and doodles, all in a good cause – Ira’s asthma worsens if he uses clay liter and the resulting dust. Paper has dust too, but not so much.

Newspapers are especially good – easy on the paws, and I catch up on (admittedly old) news and chuckle over a cartoon or two again. (Abishag and Ira both got new purple litter boxes for Christmas. Not glamorous, but necessary.)

As a former reporter, I wonder: do they harbor secret political leanings from having headlines to peruse?
