Abishag and Ira are remarkable in that they both have solid black whiskers and noses so very black you can’t see they even have them in a dim light. (The wonderful artist who painted their book cover had to resort to making their whiskers a light gray.) Here they both are: (Ladies first – Abishag, then Ira.)

Thank Goodness they don’t ordinarily behave like Thing 1 and Thing 2 in The Cat in the Hat.
